Eagles Win Title By Large Margin

Chris Chitterling finished third and teammate Will Kang took fifth to lead Annapolis Area Christian School to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference cross country championship last Wednesday at Oregon Ridge Park.

The Eagles finished with 57 points for an easy victory over St. Paul’s. The Crusaders posted 86 points, narrowly beating Friends by four points and Glenelg Country School by six. St. Vincent Pallotti came in fifth with 152 points.

Grisha Iventichev of Friends (16 minutes and 8 seconds) finished second in the overall race, but was first in the B Conference race. He also won the B Conference individual championship last year. Cardinal Gibbons’ Conor Scott finished second in the B Conference, but his Crusaders finished 10th.

AACS used Tyler Trainor’s 14th place finish as well as Paul Graves’ and Phillip Trainor’s 17th and 18th place runs to capture the championship.

James Saylor’s sixth place effort to finish second led St. Paul’s. Will Gore and Alex Murphy took 11th and 13th places, respectively. Paul Raccuglia’s (22nd ) and John Koo (34th) completed the St. Paul’s scoring.

Other top 10 finishers were Taylor McDowell of St. John’s (fourth), Baltimore Lutheran’s Cory Armes (seventh), Sam Sutherland (eighth) of Glenelg, Severn’s Matt Quinn (ninth) and Pallotti’s Colin Douville ended up 10th.

Calvert Hall won the A Conference title for the first time in eight years, easily beating Archbishop Spalding.
