Beth Tfiloh Tries for Final Step

The Beth Tfiloh girls basketball team is looking to rebound this season after getting knocked out last season in the divisional playoffs by Annapolis Area Christian School.

The Warriors have a solid base of six players coming back from last year’s team, which posted a 12-4 record in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference’s X Division.

Seniors Arielle Vogelstein and Rachael Schulder are back from last year as the starting backcourt. Junior Sara Hervitz returns to start at forward and give the Warriors some size inside.

Veteran senior forward Ilana Spitz and junior guard/forward Judy Gerstenblith as well as junior Lindsay Harris look to make this team better than last year’s group.

The Warriors also should have some real depth on the bench with senior guard Jen Marcus, junior guard Michelle Safferman and freshman guard/forward Jackie Lebau ready to go at a moment’s notice.

With junior forward Shira Sandler and junior guard Jen Holzman looking to make an impact, returning coach Sonya Howell should get a strong group this season. Howell coached the junior varsity last year, but she’ll need to find some punch inside this year.
