Chapelgate Christian’s 15-4 record was good enough for the softball team to clinch the top seed recently in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference.
The Hornets started off their season by losing two of their first three games, but they used a strong late-season finish to grab the top spot, winning 10 straight games.
The team has scored 150 runs and was one of the B Conference’s top offensive teams throughout the season.
Senior Lauren Ahrens leads the team with 31 runs scored and 19 stolen bases while junior Julia Groves had the best batting average on the team at .417.
Senior Amanda Webster has hit the team’s only home run this season. She has a .339 batting average. Junior pitcher Meghan Black has a 2.83 ERA and added 164 strikeouts to the mix.

Mount de Sales has been performing well in the always competitive IAAM A Conference, taking second place in the conference with an 11-4 record.
The Sailors won their first six games, but they hit a snag midseason, winning just two of their next six contests.
However, the team has bounced back, winning their past two games for a strong late-season push.
